Kurt Hommen,

* THS varsity Baseball head coach 1990-2009, 309-156 67.76%
* THS English teacher 1988-2021;

the longest serving head coach in THS varsity baseball history, (1925-2021);

having coached the 1994 Tigers to the BCCA Baseball County Tournament championship, (the only THS victory since the inception of the tournament in 1959);

having coached the 1993 & 1994 THS teams to their BCSL American Division championship;

having been inducted to the BCCA Century CLub with 293 wins while at THS;

having been inducted, (2007), to the THS Athletic Hall of Fame;

having coached the sole baseball playing THS student athlete, (Eric Anderson, THS '94) and, too, named as a junior, The Record's Athlete of the Week in baseball, (04-23-1998);

having been named 2016 recipient of the Thomas L. Della Torre Special Achievement Award given by the YMCA of Greater Bergen County;

having been inducted 2000 to the Metropolitan Baseball League Hall of Fame;

having been inducted 2008 to the NJSCA, (New Jersey State Coaches Association);

having retired, effective June 30, 2021, upon 33 years as a THS English teacher;

and, perhaps, most importantly,

his exemplary and unblemished on and off field reputation and stature as a coach respected by peers and officials throughout Bergen County and the state of New Jersey along with the respect, trust and admiration from those students athletes who he coached.

There is the gold standard and there is the Hommen standard.
