Thanks to everyone who signed and supported this campaign we have since received a response.
Muslim Matters.org is a respected blogging platform, but they have allowed a writer to publish an article which directly has insulted Islamic literary practioners and violated copyright under the 'Fair Use act.' Where by publishers, writers, contributors welcome and expect critique, the very positioning of this article has displayed gross misconduct on both the part of the writer and Muslim Matters.org.
This petition is more than just asking for an explanation of why governance was not in place but it is to ensure that Islamic publishing organisations are held accountable.
This effects everyone who cares about the future of Islamic children's books and Islamic publishing. If we stay silent then we deter new writers and publishers from this beautiful craft and are effectively hurting the very people who are trying to make a positive change for our children. Please sign this petition to call on Muslimmatters.org to fully explain to everyone why they felt this article was fit for publishing, when there was no constructive critique, insulting remarks and a blatant advertisement for funding the writers personal project.
