Subject: REQUEST TO ALLOW THE COMPLETION OF MS DEGREE / PERSUENCE OF PhD. AS MS LEADING TO PhD PROGRAM TO THE TIME BARRED STUDENTS

Respected Sir,

Further to the letters APPLICATION FOR COMPLETION & RESUMPTION OF COURSE DATED: 25 MARCH,2009; APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION PERIOD FOR COMPLETING MS DEGREE DATED: 18 MAY 2009; SETTLEMENT OF AN ISSUE DATED 09 MAY 2010; REQUEST TO ALLOW THE COMPLETION OF THE THESIS FOR THE AWARD OF MS DEGREE TO THE TIME BARRED STUDENTS DATED: 19 MARCH 2010.

Since NUST is meeting international standards and quality education. In US and UK universities are ranked based on number of graduates they have. Especially, at master’s level they work with students to give education and help them get experience at the same time.

NUST is already maintaining quality education by culture and norms practiced on campuses. By restricting studies in a certain time span would be suffocative as at master level most of the students like to keep job and studies in parallel. Besides study of subjects with work experience further improves technicalities resulting in better performance for thesis.

Students aspire to join NUST as it is the premier institution of the country and a qualification from NUST can lead to a prosperous career. We also joined NUST with great hopes and ambitions. However, man proposes and God disposes and this time our ambition was to be thwarted. We have been part of NUST though and are proud of this affiliation. We would like to be officially recognized as such.

We feel that the time spent at NUST is unaccounted for: We have not failed nor have we qualified. We simply want a chance to finish what we started and get a degree. Therefore, an option could be provided to submit thesis in an appropriate time frame or to study courses in order to make up for the remaining 6 credit hours. This would allow us a chance to apply ourselves and work towards attaining the standards required for the NUST MS degree.

We on our part assure you of our total commitment in this regard and that we will make the most of this chance given by NUST.

There is a precedent in the recent history of NUST where the time barred students have been allowed a chance to finish their degrees. A similar formula could be adopted in our case. Most of the students have progressed in their careers and are more mature with hands on experience in their field. A favorable decision would not only be recognition of our academic ability but also enhance the prestige of NUST as an illustrious academic institution.

The request is of assigning extension period as was assigned to students of time barred cases from MS-1 onward which we learnt through interaction with students of earlier batches. Moreover, completing degree will not only be beneficiary for students but speaking in larger interest of NUST it will increase number of NUST postgraduates in market.

We will be looking forward to you looking at this application with compassion and will be bracing ourselves to the academic rigors at NUST.

Your kind perusal is requested on the matter.

Sincerely,
