Background (Preamble):
It is estimated that animal shelters care for 6-8 million dogs and cats every year in the United States, of whom approximately 3-4 million are euthanized.
Due to he recent budget cut on animal shelters has led to many employee’s being laid off, resulting in the fact that healthy animals are being denied from the shelters, ending up on the streets becoming starved and abused, which eventually results in death.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call for more of California's budget to go toward animal welfare.
With more funding it would provide better animal safety and living conditions.
