Background (Preamble):
Utah law allows for an adult to kill a young child and face less of a punishment than for killing an adult. The Utah code 76-5-208 - Child abuse Homicide allows for persons to be sentenced to 1-15 years and has no protection for our most precious part of society.
Petition:
We the undersigned call upon the Legislators of the state of Utah to make amendments to the following Utah codes 76-5-109, 76-5-202, 76-5-208.
The amendments we seek shall have special provisions protecting the youngest of Utah's residents, and making the punishment for harming or murdering these precious individuals more harsh than current.
