Background (Preamble):
This petition is for the Cumberland School Department as well as the Cumberland School Committee to consider when reviewing and voting on the budget for the 2008-2009 year.
We believe that the chorus program in both North Cumberland and McCourt Middle Schools is a valuable activity and is just as important to the school curriculum as classes such as band, art, and computer applications.
For some students, chorus and music is what keeps them interested and excited about school, and to end the chorus program would be nothing short of a tragedy for many students, as well as parents and teachers.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge the Cumberland School Committee to act now to keep the Middle School Chorus Program in Cumberland, Rhode Island.
