The Marriage Act in Australia provides for marriage between a male and a female. This excludes people who wish to create a partnership with a person of the same gender.

We believe that this is discrimination. We believe, further, that it is patently unreasonable to deny a group of people certain legal and social benefits based on their sexuality'

We do not ask for "Gay Marriage" as a separate or different form of marriage. We ask for marriage equality.

The former Prime Minister, the Hon. Kevin Rudd MP., has now stated that "I have come to the conclusion that church and state can have different positions and practices on the question of same sex marriage,'' and that, "I believe the secular Australian state should be able to recognise same sex marriage.''

We, the undersigned, humbly call on the Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP., to immediately remove any and all reference to gender from the Marriage Act 1961 (Australia) and, specifically, remove the term, “Marriage, means the union of a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life." and replace it with the words, “Marriage, means the union of two people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life." Moreover, we call for the removal in totality of section 88EA from that act.

We call on the Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull MP., to enact laws which will recognise marriage between any two adult, consenting, non-related persons equal in all legal and social respects to a marriage between a man and a woman.
