Malta Illegal Immigration Solution Referendum

REFERENDUM POINTS

We the undersigned submit our signature in support of points 1-3 below for a public referendum.

1) For Malta to declare a State of Emergency (just like Italy did in August 2008) and pleads international and EU help in its crisis by asking the immediate intervention of larger countries to take over future arrivals and simultaneously to start immediate proceedings in the United Nations to update all Refugee Conventions to take into account the special interests of small vulnerable host frontier island states like Malta.

Failing understanding and support of Malta's unique situation Malta will be empowered to consider any action necessary in the national interest such as opting out of its UN Refugee commitment and/or refuse further landings and/or embark on a firm refit and move on policy.

2) That Malta's Search and Rescue Area (SAR) be reduced in proportion to its land size. This area is greater than Great Britain and is in urgent need of downsizing and updating with present day realities.

3) That Malta will make a public declaration that it will not automatically venture into the territorial waters of other countries to pick up people who ask for help and that it will ask other countries to do it in view of it’s already over stretched abilities to sustain these people.
