The homeless are often harassed, ticketed and jailed for sleeping outside, and the purpose of this petition is to protect them from such harassment, ticketing and jailing.
All have the right to sleep, whether or not they have the money to pay for housing. Life sustaining activities are never illegal, and such activities must be allowed. (See Pottinger Versus city of Miami).
We the undersigned call on the state of California and all states to stop the harassment, ticketing and jailing of the homeless for life sustaining activities such as sleeping.
If said states will not provide housing then the homeless must be allowed to sleep outdoors legally.
Parks and other areas must be provided for this life sustaining activity.
