We the people of Madison County North Carolina understand the need for a new jail, but the jail project proposed has become excessive. This project is the largest expenditure in the history of this county.
We should as tax payers be allowed to vote on this expenditure.
This project exceeds the needs and the wants of our community. We therefore request a vote of the people of this county before any issuance of certificates.
We the undersigned call on the Madison County North Carolina Board of Commissioners to take action and submit for vote of Madison County registered voters a bond referendum with regard to the proposed new jail project.
