Target:
Kevin Molloy, President, LW 210 Board of Education
Region:
United States of America

Due to financial struggles, the closing of a LW District 210 school is inevitable.

The LW 210 Board of Education will vote on two options determining where and with whom your child will attend high school. The options can be summed up as follows:

Option A: Close (any) one of the four LW high schools, but keep Middle Schools/Jr. Highs together as they move into high school. In other words, students attending 157C schools in Frankfort will attend the SAME high school as all of his/her classmates who graduate from Hickory Creek Middle School.

OPTION B: Close (any) one of the four LW high schools AND redraw the boundaries determining which high school children attend. In other words, middle school/ jr. high feeder school classes would be dismantled and separated as they head into high school. Students who attended class K-8 together, Grand Prairie through Hickory Creek, would potentially, be separated and dispersed to different schools as they advance to high school.

We, the undersigned, call on the LW 210 Board of Education to vote OPTION A - keeping our community and our children together as one - as they enter high school.

We, the parents/community of 157C have hand-selected the community of Frankfort to raise our families. We have taken on tax burdens for the good of our children and the promise of a secure educational path within our community.

We believe Option B (redrawing boundaries) is an UNACCEPTABLE solution. Option B will not only fracture our community, but put our children at risk for an educational experience fraught with unnecessary challenges and struggles. Separating students and communities of children who have grown together since kindergarten at a time when they are MOST socially and emotionally impressionable is irresponsible. Simply put, OPTION B puts our childrens' educational, social and emotional well-being at risk.

WE SUPPORT OPTION A. We are a community who wish to remain a community. We recognize the value of community in education. We understand a student's emotional and social well-being directly impacts his/her ability to learn and excel. Please vote Option A and give our children the BEST chance for succeeding academically as they transition from middle school to high school.

OPTION A - ALL THE WAY!

Thank you.
