Target:
Mr. Shannon Whitfield, Walker County Georgia County Commissioner
Region:
United States of America

Currently volunteers at the Walker County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center must be 18 years of age. Even with adult supervision, those under the age of 18 can not give their time to the Shelter. The age limit restricts many capable and caring individuals from giving in their community. With an average of 136 dogs and 82 cats brought to the Shelter each month, we need to lower the volunteer age. Doing so will improve the socialization, care, and attention of the animals and upkeep of the Shelter grounds.

We, the undersigned, call on Mr. Shannon Whitfield, County Commissioner, Mr. David Brown, Interim Director, and Ms. Stephanie McTaggart, Manager, to lower the Walker County Animal Shelter and Adoption Center volunteer age to 16. Additionally those between the ages of 10 - 15 should be allowed to volunteer with a responsible adult present at all times.
