Flares can be used in a safe manner and clubs can put restrictions on how flares are used to make sure they don't injure anyone. Flares are used all over the world at football matches and they create an amazing atmosphere.
Here in Australia people who use flares safely at A-league matches are portrayed as criminals even though they are just showing their passion for the team. It is ridiculous how someone who lets off a flare gets a bigger punishment than someone who is racist.
