I am a Junior Fire Fighter with the Betsy Layne Volunteer Fire Department in Betsy Layne, Kentucky. I am constantly seeing how useful it would be to have red/white flashing lights and a siren in my POV when the time comes to respond to a call. Considering that I live a great distance from the fire department causes me to be late to catch the trucks or miss them in general because of slow traffic.

Although I think that Junior Fire Fighters should be allowed to respond to calls with red lights and siren, others feel that Junior's shouldn't have any rights within the fire department.

I feel as if that is wrong because most Junior members are very responsible young adults and they abide by the rules of the road generally more than experienced volunteer fire fighters do.

I think that Junior Fire Fighters should have the same rights to use red lights and a siren just as much as the next fire fighter, as long as they abide by the rules of the road and does not exceed more that 5mph over the set speed limit in their area.

We, the undersigned Junior Fire Fighters of the State of Kentucky, call upon the Kentucky State Fire Commission to revise their rules and regulations on whether Junior members of a fire department should be allowed to respond to calls with red lights and sirens.
