We have been informed as of jan 2015 kai coal will no longer be able to be used in coal fired burners; kai coal is cleaner, less dusty, and less oder than lignite coal.
Environment Southland have not provided any scientific evidence to support there claim kai coal is worse than others. There have been no grants offered to community to support change.
For me and my family next winter will be very cold if something is not done. We all had a date to get our concerns into the solicitors office now we have to wait till august till we get a response. Not Good Enough.
We, the undersigned, call on environment southland to prove via scientific evidence that kai coal is less clean than other coals.
We also require our signified concerns by bannermans solicitors to be brought forward to January or alternatively Environment southland and Gore Council to push all relevant home heating bill back to September 2015.
We also require government funding for each individual dwelling for costs incured by change overs in home heating.
