Three years ago we, at St. Ann school in Ancaster, were blessed to meet our new Principal, Mr. Goffredo. After waiting many years for a positive change for our school, he came and began those changes in his very first summer.
Where before we had complacency and inaction, we now had someone who made change happen. In these three short years, because of Mr. Goffredo, St. Ann is a safe and clean environment for our children, learning expectations are high for all, and a strong family community has been fostered.
Mr. Goffredo is being forced to leave our school before he has completed his mandate. There is still much work to be done. The Principal who started this move to become the best, must be allowed to get us there!
Some of the initiatives, projects, and improvements we DID NOT have UNTIL Mr. Goffredo's tireless work and dedication to our children, our school and our community began:
-Anti-Bullying program and action
-Safer playground and school for ALL
-Better education with higher expectations (volunteer reading program, more levelled reading books, more teacher resources)
-New, and sufficient textbooks for the children
-Smart boards
-New and organized Gym equipment
-Trips to Camp Brebeuf
-Ski trips
-Grandparents Day
-Movie Nights
-Community masses & receptions
-Choir recitals
-new windows, Air exchangers and curtains in class rooms
-roof and facade repairs (front of school walkway renovations)
-Prayer Garden
-Safety barrier for playground to prevent cars from entering
-Walk to School program encouraged
-uniform swap
-adherance to uniform policy
-end-of-year family fun day
-student-run milk program (instead of parents)
-student-run pizza day (instead of parents)
-coaching multiple teams and leading clubs
-leader of the faith in the school.
We, the undersigned, believe that the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board should reconsider the transfer of Mr. Goffredo and allow him to remain as Principal of St. Ann Catholic School (Ancaster).
We believe that Mr. Goffredo has made invaluable improvements to St. Ann School and should continue his mandate through the regular term of a Principal of at least 5 years.
