Think about it. Almost every diamond you see has been unethically mined. Meaning, there’s blood on most of our hands, ears, and necks. Naturally, most of us aren’t thinking about hurting anyone so we can wear some of these sparkling beauties on our bodies.
So why does it really matter? Well, our intentions are good, but the process of getting those beautiful jewels often comes with a frightening story. In essence, when we buy gold or diamonds that are unethically mined, we are inadvertently supporting the horrific acts often taking place in the industry today. You might hear people say, “Well that was over 80 years ago.” And yes, it was much worse then, but it still hasn’t entirely changed.
So what can we do?
We can shop around for companies that are known for providing ethically mined diamonds, jewels, and gold. That’s right. This industry is getting bigger all of the time and the more we support and buy from these sources, the less of a demand there will be for unethical sources. The goal is to completely eradicate unethical mining and replace it with a higher demand for ethical mining as soon as possible.
We invite anyone interested in putting an end to the unethical diamond mining industry to sign our petition right away so we can start making people more aware of the fact that there are more ethical options available on the market.
