Sixty-five (65) years to the day, Resolution 181 was passed in the United Nations General Assembly recognizing the right of the Jewish people to their own State. Rejection by the Arab nations may have rendered Resolution 181 politically irrelevant. But the prophetic significance of the resolution’s passage remains undiminished. Leading up to the declaration of the State of Israel in May 14, 1948, the resolution marked the beginning of the fulfillment of Ezekiel’s dry bones prophecy - the restoration of the nation of Israel, at long last, in Eretz Israel, the land promised by HASHEM to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob:

‘O dry bones, hear the word of HASHEM! Thus says the Lord HASHEM/ELOHIM to these bones: Behold, I bring a spirit into you, and you will come to life. I will put sinews upon you, I will bring flesh upon you, and I will coat you with skin; then I will put a spirit into you and you will come to life; then you will know that I am HASHEM…He said to me, “Son of Man, these bones – they are the whole House of Israel.” Ezekiel 37:4-6

Yet, from Day 1, statehood for Israel has been fraught with challenges quite unlike any faced by other nations :

• Israel is the only state whose right to exist has been relentlessly questioned;

• Israel is the only UN member state that has been openly targeted for annihilation by another member state (Iran);

• Israel is the only country whose right to defend its citizens from aggression from its enemies, is up for debate among other nations;

• Israel is the only nation whose capital, Jerusalem, other nations have refused to recognize;

• Israel is the only country that has won all its major wars for self-defense, whose defeated adversaries get away with dictating the terms of peace;

• Israel is the only country that has been censured repeatedly by the UN Human Rights Council, which has adopted more resolutions condemning Israel than it has all other member states combined.

• Today, November 29, 2012, leaders of the Palestinian Authority, with the support of the United Nations, will take another major step towards statehood. A resolution will again be introduced at the UN for the recognition of Palestinian-controlled areas of Israel as “observer state” ultimately to be carved out of Israel as a separate state of Palestine, with Jerusalem as capital.

• More chilling is supreme guide of the Muslim Brotherhood Sheikh Mohammed Badie’s dismissal of the idea of a Palestinian State by UN efforts. Instead, Badie threatened that Jihad (war) on Jerusalem is the only way to seize control.

Against Your nation they plot deviously, they take counsel against those sheltered by You. They said, “Come, let us cut them off from nationhood, so Israel’s name will not be remembered anymore!” For they take counsel together unanimously, they strike a covenant against You … Psalm 83:4-6

The Philippines:
Standing With Israel Then and Now

We reaffirm our belief that the Land of Israel is uniquely chosen, unconditionally promised by God as an eternal heritage for Abraham and his descendants, through Isaac, and to the Israelites through Jacob [Israel], Abraham’s grandson:

I will give you and your descendants after you the land in which you are now foreigners, all the land of Canaan, as a permanent possession. Genesis 17:7-8

We affirm the truth that Israel is at the core of God’s plan for redeeming humanity, as declared to Abraham.

I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you, I will curse; and all the families of the earth shall bless themselves by you. (Genesis 12:2-3)

We stand by the truth that Jerusalem is the focus of God’s purposes on earth for Messiah’s rule and reign.

For Adonai has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation. This is my resting place forever and ever, here I will dwell, for I have desired it. Psalm 122:6

Notwithstanding the decades of virulent anti-Semitism Israel has suffered through, we believe that concerning Israel, the gifts and promises of God are irrevocable.

For a brief moment have I forsaken you… With a slight wrath have I concealed my countenance from you for a moment… but My kindness shall not be removed from you and My covenant of peace shall not falter. Isaiah 54:7-10

We believe that the nations that go against Israel, or divide God’s land are on a direct and disastrous collision course with the Almighty.

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat and I will contend with them there concerning My people and My possession, Israel, that they dispersed among the nations, And they divided up My Land… Joel 4:2

We do not doubt the certainty of God’s terrible judgment and complete destruction of nations attacking Jerusalem.

It shall be on that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come upon Jerusalem. Zechariah 12:9

We commit to take our place, alongside our brethren worldwide, as watchmen for Jerusalem, day and night calling on the Lord to remember His promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Upon your walls, O Jerusalem, have I posted guardians; all the day and all the night, continuously, they will never be silent. ‘You who remind HASHEM, be not silent! Do not give Him silence, until He establishes and until He makes Jerusalem a source of praise in the Land.’ Isaiah 62:6-7

Realizing that the deep-seated hatred of the Arab peoples for Israel has its roots in the spiritual realm and not merely in the natural or physical, we take the stance that standing with Israel does not necessarily mean standing against all Arabs.

For we do no wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

Our leaders Manuel L. Quezon, Philippine President (1935-1944) and Jorge Bocobo, University of the Philippines President (1934-1939) left the Filipinos a precious legacy of support for the Chosen People of God. Making the Philippines the only Asian country to offer refuge in the country for thousands of Jews fleeing the Holocaust in Europe in 1939, Pres. Quezon and Dr. Bocobo forged the first links of Israeli-Philippine bonds. These links were further deepened when the Philippines, again as the only Asian country to do so, cast an affirmative vote to recognize the right of the Jews to statehood in the UN General Assembly.

We commit to build on this legacy and carry it forward into our generation and the next. As far as we are able, we will rally all manner of support for the cause of Israel with our government, our communities, our work and business circles, our families and friends, in fulfillment of the unique call to gentile believers.

‘Comfort, comfort My people,’ says your God.
Speak consolingly of Jerusalem...
Isaiah 40:1

Together with Israel, we wait in hopeful anticipation of the glorious time prophesied by Ezekiel when Israel will have been redeemed and vindicated in the eyes of the world.

They will dwell on the land that I gave to My servant Jacob…they and their children and their children’s children will dwell upon it forever… And My servant David will be a leader for them forever. I will seal a covenant of peace with them; it will be an eternal covenant with them; …and I will place My Sanctuary among them forever. My dwelling place will be among them; I will be a God to them and they will be a people to Me. Then nations will know that I am HASHEM who sanctifies Israel… Ezekiel 37:25-28

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel who hastens to fulfill His word. (Jeremiah 1:12)
