Background (Preamble):
Each year, close to a million people are illegally trafficked across continental,
national, and even state borders. Human trafficking is a 10 billion dollar industry.
Many present-day slaves (yes, slaves. And you thought slavery was ended after
the emancipation proclamation? Wrong.) were brought into this despicable
industry because the sick-minded "masters" threatened to torture or kill their relatives if they didn't comply.
Since most slaves are immigrants, language barriers allow the masters to take advantage of their "charges". These slaves work in brothels, sweatshops, and many other venues. Regardless, this isn't right. And if we don't do anything to stop it, there's no end in sight.
