We, the undersigned, request an amendment to the constitution of the United States of America granting the Republic of Independence independence from the United States.

Mexico owned the territory until 1836 when Texas won its independence, becoming an independent Republic. In 1845 it joined the United States as the 28th state. The state's annexation helped set off a chain of events that caused the Mexican–American War in 1846. Texas seceded from the United States in early 1861, joining the Confederate States of America on March 23, 1861.

We, the undersigned, request an amendment to the constitution of the United States of America granting the Republic of Independence independence from the United States.

As a condition of the United States granting the above requested independence, we request that the United Mexican States (commonly known as Mexico) admit Texas as a state of Mexico.
