The recent increase of minimum wage to $10.72 does not meet cost of living standards in our province and those making this wage struggle on a daily basis. It is my belief that in order for the Government of Saskatchewan to full comprehend the impact of this situation they must live in the same conditions as a person who is forced to live on minimum wage.

I petition for all Members of the Legislative Assembly unanimously accept the challenge to live for 45 days on the wage of $10.72 per hour for 40 hours per week. I further challenge them to donate the balance of their wage for the 45 days into a fund for homelessness initiatives. In the 45 days they would not be able to access any other funding (savings, etc) and still pay for their monthly expenses.

I believe this challenge to be fair and inclusive for a hard and clear look into the lives of those living under the poverty line.

We, the undersigned, call on the Members of the Saskatchewan Legislature to accept the challenge of the Saskatchewan residents to live for 45 days on the minimum wage of the province of Saskatchewan. $10.72 per hour for 40 hours per week. No overtime paid.
