Imminent loss of 12 specialist debt workers in Sheffield. Currently no new cases will be taken on after 6 December, 2010.
This petition is organised by Sheffield CAB Debt Support Unit.
We the undersigned:
(i) express our profound concern at the anticipated loss of debt support services from April 2011, especially given the impact of escalating debt, high unemployment and changes in the welfare system and the current and future economic climate.
(ii) Urge Sheffield City Council to make representations to the relevant Government Department responsible for the Financial Inclusion Fund (BIS) to highlight the devastating effect to Sheffield people in not being able to access debt services if the funding is cut.
(iii) Urge Sheffield City Council to take appropriate action and provide support to ensure this service can continue.
