Asia Noreen, better known as Asia Bibi, is a Pakistani Christian woman who has been convicted by a Pakistani court of blasphemy, receiving a death sentence by hanging.

The verdict, which would need to be upheld by a superior court, has received worldwide attention. If executed, Noreen would be the first person in Pakistan to be lawfully killed for blasphemy.

Dear Ambassador Tehmina Janjua
Embassy of Pakistan in Italy
Via Della Camilluccia 682,
00135 Rome (Italy)

Dear Ambassador,

I call for the immediate and unconditional release of Asia Noreen.

I ask, moreover, its engagement in the review of the norms on the blasphemy introduced in 1986 from the former president and general Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq (articles 295 B and C of the Pakistani penal code). A law that in these years has become instrument of dead and tortures for the religious minorities in Pakistan. Many innocents are condemned to death for the right to the religion and thought freedom.

Sincerly,

The Immediate release of Asia Bibi petition to Ambassador Tehmina Janjua, Embassy of Pakistan in Italy was written by Mariacarmela Ribecco and is in the category Human Rights at GoPetition.
