During October 2008, Illini Park was closed along with several other state parks and state historic sites by former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, who indicated a budget shortfall of about $2.5 billion as the basis.

We, the people represented by the social contract between Illinois and its citizens, call on Pat Quinn and Illinois to return funding to certain State Parks and Historic Sites by demand of the taxpayers.
