IEBC's mandate under section 109 of the Elections Act to draft regulations which stems from Article 88 (5) of the Constitution does not in any way give it oppressive powers over the vulnerable groups specifically youth, women and persons living with disabilities.

Whereas the commission insists that its independent and that it observed the principle of public participation and the requirement for consultation with various stakeholders in coming up with its proposed nomination fees, we the Kenya 2012 Young Aspirants Forum know that the exercise was not all inclusive and the outcome is a tell it all - exorbitant fees for vulnerable groups!

This is what IEBC suggested:
