We once had an ice rink in the Plaza Galleria and the ice rink was usually popular during public session. It was a semi cheap activity that was cool in the summer and could be done year round.
It not only provided exercise and an escape from the summer heat, but through the classes people met and became friends. I, myself have been friends with two people I met in class for over 20 years.
It held ice shows and competitions showcasing the students. Boosting the self esteem of those who couldn't play school sports such as football or basketball.
The plaza galleria to my knowledge is still equipped to house a rink.
We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the city open an ice rink again.
