As a resident of Iberia Parish living in district #14 "Coteau" area we are limited to the internet providers available to us. The best internet option we have now is AT&T internet service and their max download is 6mbps. Sudden link is 3mbps for download and 5mbps for upload.
When you live in a home where there are four or five people using the same DSL "internet" through a router, you share what you have available and this causes many problems. Buffering and freezing pictures, video games running slower or freezing up.
We live in a age where this is not acceptable for the technology available to the public today. An example of what we need to run our electronic devices that need the internet to perform normally is...
Netflix recommended internet requirements are:
3.0 Megabits per second-Recommended for DVD. 5.0 Megabits per second-Recommended for HD Quality. 7.0 Megabits per second-Recommended for 3D quality.
When recently contacted Cox Communications they claim they can provide us with better and faster internet connection through cable. But they are not allowed to come into our area and offer us their cable packages due to local government rulings.
This petition is for the residents of Iberia Parish "Coteau Area" to have the right to have better and faster DSL internet connections through Cox Communications. The signatures below are the residents who plead with you to allow this company to come into our area and provide us with better DSL internet service.
