Currently Hulls Highway, a main artery connecting Southport residents of Hulls Highway, Arbor Road, Mill Hill Terrace, Ivy Lane, Range Road, Wakeman Lane, Sasco River Lane and Butternut Lane, does not have sidewalks. Speeding cars and lack of pedestrian access make Hulls Highway unsafe for families and children and prevents us from building a sense of community and supporting local businesses.

The lack of sidewalks forces residents to drive cars more frequently which increases neighborhood traffic and elevates the level of danger. The increased traffic and lack sidewalks prevents families and children from enjoying the daily activities that living in a community like Southport offers...walking dogs, visiting neighbors, riding bikes, supporting stores and eateries in Southport Center, walking to the train station and accessing local businesses on Post Road (SS Dugout, soon to open Garelick & Herb, etc).

We are looking to the Department of Public Works to support Hulls Highway neighborhood residents by providing pedestrian access that will allow us to be connected to the community of Southport.

We, the undersigned residents of Hulls Highway, Arbor Road, Mill Hill Terrace, Ivy Lane, Range Road, Wakeman Lane, Sasco River Lane and Butternut Lane, call on the Department of Public Works to put in a sidewalk on Hulls Highway.
