India could become a global player in the cycling industy. This in the long run would create jobs making more income for India's economy and would also help with the environment.
To do this we need the worlds cycling manufactures to start selling more of their products to the India market. This would be made more feasible if the India government would look to reduce the import duties and taxes levied on anything cycle related that's imported into India.
Please sign this petition and if you want say how you or your business are involved in cycling or how you or your business feel India could benefit from a growing cycling nation.
We fellow cyclists, cycle clubs, cycle and component manufacturers, environment activists, tourism promoters and anyone involved in cycling would like to call on the India government to help India become a truly great cycling nation.
We feel India has the potential to become one of the best ever growing cycling markets. This would help create jobs, help with the tourism market and also help with the environment if cycling was to become more open to the masses.
To do this we request the India government to possibly look into reviewing the high import duties and taxes levied on any cycle related product that is imported into India. This could open up India to huge cycling sporting events like road races, downhill and cross county mountain bike events.
This would create tourism, advertising and sponsorships. It would create more jobs nation wide while making more revenue for the economy and also promoting a more greener India helping the environment to reduce carbon levels if more people switched to cycles. India needs all the large cycling manufactures to start selling more of their products which inturn would encourage India companies to start making their own equipment and help grow this potentially huge market.
Unfortunately with high import duties and taxes this is not feasible at this present time.
We call on the India government to look at reducing import duties and taxes and help India become the truly great cycling nation it should be.
