HELP SAVE McMOBILE (and other independent stores like it)!

Dear Friend of Yukio and McMobile,

This is Sarah R. Tezuka, Yukio’s wife. I am writing to you today to warn you of an impending crisis with Yukio’s store and to ask for your support.

After 25+ years of “INSANE COMMITMENT” to Apple products and first-rate service, Yukio has been told by an “Apple Watchdog” inspector (yes, that’s really their title) that he is about to lose his service license from Apple. Why? Not because of any fault with the quality or costs of his repairs. As all of you know, his service is exemplary. For several years running he has received Consumer Checkbook Magazine’s highest rating in the Delaware Valley for both prices and quality—which he received again just a few months ago!

So if there’s nothing wrong with the quality of his work, what is the problem? Two words: corporate profits. Yukio has been told he is doing too many “unauthorized repairs.” In other words, he helps his customers save money by fixing or replacing components of their devices, such as cracked screens, when Apple wants to force customers to replace the entire device at twice the price!

And Yukio’s business is not the only one being targeted. That’s right, one of the richest companies in the entire world is systematically attacking its own independent resellers, mostly small businesses employing local people, in order to “cut operating costs” (part of the “Watchdogs’” actual job description) and force customers to use only the glitzy Apple Stores. Their services are higher-priced and many repairs—especially if the device is not under warranty—are not available at all. And that’s supposing you can find a corporate-run Apple store in a convenient location.

Kind of ironic, as we hear a lot of talk about small businesses being the “backbone of the economy,” isn’t it? So what can you do about it? Maybe nothing. Apple has no appeals process for its arbitrary decisions, but we are hoping we can make them reconsider by making a loud enough protest.

Will you add your voice? We are hoping for a thousand signatures from loyal customers to send to Tim Cook and his corporate board saying STOP! Stop this unfair and shortsighted campaign against your resellers (who are a big part of the reason for Apple customers’ loyalty and product-satisfaction). Reinstate McMobile’s Apple Service Authorization today!!

To sign this petition, please complete the following information. And if you want to drop by the store in Drexel Hill, you know you are always welcome!

Note: This petition host will not resell your name or information. But please pass it on to any friends and colleagues you think might be interested.

We, the undersigned, urge Tim Cook and Apple, Inc. to STOP forcing out authorized independent resellers with excellent records of service, such as McMobile, Inc.

Stop trying to increase corporate profits at the expense of local businesses and the customers they serve.

Start by reversing the cancellation of McMobile's Apple Service Authorization today!
