Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, many people across the state and country will not be able to get their permit/license on time. In the state of Maryland, you have to be 15 and 9 months to have the ability to take your permit test. When you receive your permit, you have to wait another 9 months to have the ability to take your drivers test. During the long quarantine, many people used that time to practice their driving skills and prepare for their permit/drivers test. Many people rely on receiving their drivers license to get to work, school, and other places. These people will not have access to getting their income, groceries, or education.
The writer of this petition requests that the Maryland MVA exempts the 3 month period of quarantine off of the 9 month wait time before being eligible to take your permit/drivers test, given that they meet all skill levels and requirements.
