The small neighborhood in the Hacienda Estates filled with young families and their children co-exist in a high risk dangerous environment due to the large amount of vehicles in which recklessly speed through the neighborhood, in which does not possess one stop sign and/or speed bump to assist in the speed control of traffic.
Children on several occasions have come very close to becoming a victim by a vehicle hitting them due to excessive speed. Furthermore homes have been struck by vehicles speeding through the neighborhood causing catastrophic damage, risking lives and forever affecting families security, peace of mind and finance.
Police presence is limited throughout the neighborhood, which further eliminates fear for those whom abuse the 25 MPH speed limit in the Hacienda Estates.
The fear and concern many neighbors throughout the Hacienda Estates have is due to vehicles that race through the neighborhood each day. There have been accidents, homes struck by speeding vehicles and children nearly hit by racing cars. We ask all persons residing within the Hacienda Estates to support this petition by signing.
We request that The City of Yuma install stop signs and speed bumps to assist in our efforts to control traffic and to begin our effort in creating a safe haven for our children to play in without fear for reckless speeding vehicles.
