Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council is consulting on a document known as the Site Allocations and development Control Policies Development Plan Document that will form part of the Local Development Framework. It identifies the Council’s preferred locations for housing, employment, gypsy and travellers sites, open space and community facilities.
The plan currently identifies for Groby that a minimum of 109 new houses are to be built along with a Gypsy & Travellers site(s) (Residential and/or Transit).
Full details of the proposed plan can be found on:
http://www.hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk/pp/gold/viewGold.asp?IDType=Page&ID=15406
We the undersigned Groby Residents wish to strongly object to any additional new houses being built in or any gypsy or traveller pitches (transit or residential) being located in Groby.
I/We wish to object on the grounds that after 30 years of endless new development, none of the new facilities that were promised by the planners to cope with this rapid expansion of the Groby population have materialised and Groby has been left lagging badly behind other communities with the local infrastructure needs long neglected.
Groby suffers from a pronounced lack of amenities and facilities for the existing population that needs to be properly addressed before any consideration should be given to any increase in the population of our village, either temporary or permanent.
• Groby’s facilities and amenities just simply can not cope with the influx of any more residents, permanent or temporary.
• Over 3,000 Groby residents have to travel to neighbouring villages for GP facilities.
• Over half the population of Groby has to travel outside of the village for dental facilities and there no NHS dental facilities other than for a restricted number of children.
• Groby schools are at 100%+ capacity with all its schools other than Groby Community College dependent on temporary classrooms.
• Groby has a shortage of leisure and recreational facilities for the existing population.
