On Wednesday 23rd July 2014 Channel Ten news broadcast announced that within the 2014 May Budget Papers there is an exception from the $7.00 GP Co-Payment and the $6.00 Co-Payment for prescriptions for Veterans holding either a Gold or White (only available for specific medical conditions approved by Veterans Affairs) Cards.

I approve of this exception for Veterans for they have served Australia for years in various wars overseas.

However I query why Old Age Pensioners, Disability Support Pensioners, Health Care card Holders and Aged Care residents are not included in this exception.

Old aged pensioners have served their country through the workforce and rearing children; no one chooses to have a disability and hence be excluded from participating in the workforce; no one chooses to below to the lower socio-economic group and thus qualify for a Health Care card and no one chooses to be in an Aged care facility. Why are these vulnerable groups in our society not included in the exception of Co-Payments as documented in the Budget Paper for Veterans?

I will be attending the ALP organised Rally to "Bust the Liberal Budget" on 14th August 2014 in Bendigo. I fully support the opposition parties who have indicated they will oppose these Co-Payments in both the House of Representatives and Senate.

I strongly urge to sign this Petition to extend the exception of paying these Co-Payments to al vulnerable persons - Aged pensioners; Disability Pensioners; Health Care Card holders and Aged Care residents.

We the undersigned call on Joe Hockey to amend his budget to include all of these vulnerable groups and not just Veterans in his exceptions from Co-Payments.
