5 years ago Plymouth City council put up for sale a disused tennis court which is part of a very well used and popular park. we did a petition then to try and stop the sale and got 26,000 in just a short period of time. The council then conveniently lost 12,000 of them.

After years of fighting we thought we had won but have now found out they have signed the piece of land over to developer's. we need all the help we can get to stop our corrupt council from ruin what is truely one of the jewels in Plymouth's crown.

We the undersigned petition Plymouth City Council to develop the disused tennis courts on Grand Parade as an enhancement to the public recreational facilities at West Hoe Park and not a private luxury apartment project.

Details: Plymouth City Council have approved the sale of the site at the end of Pier Street to Devington Homes who have submitted plans to develop the land as a restaurant/cafe and 17 luxury apartments. This directly contravenes the Covenant drafted in 1913 when the Council acquired the land that forms West Hoe and states no part of the land “shall at any time be used otherwise than for the embellishment and improvement of the western part of the Recreation Ground know as Plymouth Hoe … or such other public purposes as will tend to improve the amenities of the West Hoe and rend it more attractive to residents and others as a place of resort.

In other words, PCC are selling the land without any thought to the rights and wishes of the people of Plymouth and the many visitors to the City.
