An innocent young man called Umar Daraz has been arrested in District Okara for excitedly putting up an Indian flag when his favourite Indian cricketer did well in a series against Australia.

His neighbours complained to the police and the police actually arrested him, he has been denied bail and is right now still in jail pending a hearing that could result in a severe fine or up to 10 years in jail.

The ramifications of this act are so glad aging on so many levels - how is this respecting our own Pakistani laws is it not an embarrassing misuse, how do we look on the international stage given such a response, hoe does this promote good relations with India our neighbour who the PM wants better links with to benefit our country. But most of all how simply cruel and unkind an act towards an excitable enthusiastic young man full of the joy and passion of cricket. All decent minded people need to unite to achieve his release.

Umar Daraz an innocent young fan of Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has been arrested under Pakistani Penal Code Sec 123A & denied bail simply for enthusiastically hoisting an Indian flag on his small roof when his favourite players team beat Australia recently.

This is an appalling and inappropriate abuse of power on the part of the local police and judiciary and causing extreme and unjust distress to him and his family.

We call upon the rationality and reason of the central government and the PRime Minister Nawaz Sharif to arrange for his immediate release and restore the rightful respect that should be afforded to our should be esteemed legal system.

The Free Umar Daraz petition to Pakistani Government was written by Farrah Rahman and is in the category Human Rights at GoPetition.
