As a matter of policy and not technical limitations T-Mobile has intentionally excluded "grey" devices (not sold by T-mobile) from using their pre-paid/pay-as-you go plans including a pre-paid plan with Webconnect. This exclusion includes a variety of devices including tablets not sold by T-Mobile.
This policy statement has been confirmed with T-Mobile Engineering and Customer Support. T-Mobile Engineers confirm that there is no technical reason to exclude these "grey" devices and this is a provisioning policy decision only.
