Sima Didar, an Azerbaijani Turkish civil rights activist, was arrested in Tabriz on Saturday 16th April 2011, presumably to enforce the six-month jail sentence she received last year.

Mrs. Didar was also detained in June 2009 following the arrest of her husband Alirza Farshi, and released more than a month later after posting bail. In a secret trial, the Tabriz Revolutionary Court sentenced her, along with her husband, to six months imprisonment. She also barred from graduate school in 2010.

Sima Didar is a graduate of Tehran University where she was the editor-in-chief of a literary publication named "Yaşmaq." She was also a writer for the local Journal "Mehr Binab".

1) We the undersigned demand the immediate and unconditional release of Sima Didar and to drop all charges against her.

2) We demand the prison authorities, all government forces, agents, police, and basij to stop the inhumane torture of Iranian citizens in prison in Iran!

3) We demand for Sima Didar to receive urgently needed medical care for the torture wounds inflicted by prison authorities.

The Free Sima Didar petition to UN, Navi Pillay, Ban Ki Moon, IR Embassies, Amnesty, HRW, EU members was written by Anette Meyer and is in the category Human Rights at GoPetition.
