Having served 29 years of a Twenty Years to Life sentence, Mark David Chapman, has repaid his debt to society. It is my belief that the only reason this man cannot rejoin society is the personal connection the general public feel towards his Victim, John Winston Lennon.
Any other person convicted of this crime, with the same state of mind and understanding of his actions, in other words... real feelings of remorse... would have already been released. It is now only the general public's emotional attachment to a public figure that holds a rehabilitated man behind bars, Mark David Chapman, although at the time unstable and emotionally self destructive, is not a threat to society or the general public... a Prisoner of Society if ever there was one.
We, the undersigned, call on the NYS Division of Parole and the Attica Correctional Facility to release the prisoner Mark David Chapman after serving Twenty-Nine Years (29) of a Twenty to Life sentence.
