Leonard Peltier was sentenced to two life sentences in 1977 and should be set free. Since being in prison he has accomplished the following. In 2009 he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the sixth consecutive year. He received the North Star Federick Douglas Award. In 2003 he won the Federation of Labor Humanitarian Award. In 2004 he won the Silver Arrow Award for Lifetime Achievement.
In 2009 he won the Red Nation Humanitarian Award as well as many other honors. Amnesty International, Desmond Tutu, Nelson Mandela and many more important people and organizations have asked for his release and we ask that you grant Leonard Peltier clemency so that he can spend the remaining years of his life with his family.
Leonard Peltier is very ill and doesn't have many years left. We ask that you allow him to spend these few years with his family. He has already spent over 33 years in prison. Thank you.
