Barnstable High School has a policy that states, "Students with at least an A- final average in a yearlong course will have their final exam waived."

Despite this, all students are required to attend school during examination periods even if their exam has been waived.
Though some supervisors have discussed the issue that students are allowed 10 unexcused absences per semester, if they have used them sparingly they should have some remaining. However this is not the concern we are bringing forth.
Our main concern is that when students come in to school when they do not need to take a test, their time is not well spent (doing literally nothing).
We, Barnstable High School students, request that amendments be made so that if a student has had their final exam waived, they will have an excused absence for that certain exam period.
This also applies to students who have study halls.
