A Family Justice Center, as proposed by the Thurston County Prosecutor's Office will consolidate government and domestic violence advocacy into one building. This will cause any conversations between advocates and domestic violence survivors, to become unconfidential.

Survivors will not feel safe to disclose abuse when it will be shared with police and prosecutor's without their explicit approval, resulting in less support and resources for victim's of domestic violence.

Without the assurance of confidentiality, domestic violence survivors wil not feel safe to seek the support and resources that could save their lives.

SafePlace, the only non-profit domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy center in Thurston County has come out as strongly opposed to this proposed center.

Stand with SafePlace and let the Thurston County Commisioners know that our community wants survivors of domestic violence to be able to safely seek support and resources to help them, while being assured of complete confidentiality.

We, the undersigned, urge the Thurston County Commissioners to reject the proposed plan to build a "Family Justice Center" on the grounds that it will hinder the availibility of safe support and resources to domestic violence survivors.
