Target: DC Department of Parks and Recreation
Region: United States of America
Result:
DC Department of Parks and Recreation has approved the dog park at Kingsman Field!!! Thanks for signing! Go to www.hillhounds.com for more information and to get involved.
Petition Background (Preamble):
For several years many of us have dreamed of having a safe, legal park we could share with our 4-legged friends. In 2007, thanks to the hard work of many dedicated DC activists and dog lovers, DC Department of Parks and Recreation finally adopted regulations friendly to dog owners to establish DC dog parks.
We seek to establish a dedicated, safe and legal dog park at Kingsman Field, adjacent to 13th, 14th, D, & E Streets NE. We invite you to join with us to create a safe and friendly environment where friends and neighbors old and new can enjoy each other’s company while promoting the health and well-being of our furry family members.
The first step to bring our dream of a dedicated dog park at Kingsman Field to reality is to show DC Department of Parks and Recreation that a significant number of neighborhood residents support a dog park.
If you are a resident of Ward 6 and support the restoration of Kingsman Field, including a legal dog park, please sign the petition today!
Please be sure to identify your preferred dog park option:
A – Dedicated area on underutilized portion of existing field adjacent to D Street/Condo (dogs will share space with playing fields)
B – Develop agreement to share entire space with off leash option during specified hours (dogs will share space with playing fields)
C – Fence and improve unused asphalt area behind church and homes on Tennessee/D (dog area will be separately fenced from playing fields, asphalt will be removed)

Petition:
By my signature below, I am voicing my support for the creation of a fenced dog park at Kingsman Field, located within 13th, D, 14th and E Streets NE.
A fenced dog park will allow the citizens of Ward 6 a safe place to recreate with their pets.
A fenced dog park will allow families with pets to spend more quality time together.
A fenced dog park will increase opportunities for residents to interact with their neighbors and help create a sense of community.
A fenced dog park will increase public safety through increased foot traffic around Kingsman Field, particularly in the evening hours.
A fenced dog park will decrease the volume of dog traffic in unfenced Ward 6 parks.
I have identified my preferred dog park option:
A – Dedicated area on underutilized portion of existing field adjacent to D Street/Condo (dogs will share space with playing fields)
B – Develop agreement to share entire space with off leash option during specified hours (dogs will share space with playing fields)
C – Fence and improve unused asphalt area behind church and homes on Tennessee/D (dog area will be separately fenced from playing fields, asphalt will be removed)
