Officers employed by the Kansas City Police Department are currently required by policy to live within the city limits of Kansas City, MO. This policy encroaches on the lives and liberties of the officers and their families. There are no other police departments within the state that have such a residency requirement.
This petition seeks to show the Board of Police Commissioners that the officers and their families desire the removal of this policy.
We, the undersigned, call on the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners to eliminate the current policy which requires Kansas City, MO police officers to live within the city limits of Kansas City, MO.
