Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s tale of horror, dehumanizing treatment, and worst abuse is by now known to the world. Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani citizen, was kidnapped from her home town Karachi-Pakistan, along with her three innocent children (daughter-6month,son 3yr &son 7yr) extradited without due process, right to trial, or right to defense and five years later turned up in Afghanistan. She was then illegally extradited to U.S. without due process. The United States of America violated the Vienna Convention during this process as she was illegally extradited from Afghanistan to the US military base Bagram AFB ( against territorial jurisdiction of the US. Her one son Ahmed is identified and recovred with the help of Pakistani Interior Ministry from Kabul Jail and reunited with Aafia's mother & sister Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui in Pakistan. The fate of her daughter & one son is still not known and at the captors mercy.
She was shot in the abdomen by US Security personnel and was incarcerated in New York prison with a gunshot wound with no effective treatment and continued to be subjected to dehumanizing strip searches. Now she is transferred to a notorious psychiatric facility known as CARSWELL Psychiatric Center in Dallas Fort-worth, Texas. She has already been diagnosed with “Chronic Depressive Psychosis” by American doctors which was supposed to be followed by requisite treatment and this evaluation trick is just a pretext to effect her memory for a cover up and bring it in line with something they have concocted the past 5 years; so-called in missing ?
Be cognizant of the fact that in these FIVE years of captivity in a notorious prison of horror she has not been charged with any criminal offense. That is proof of her innocence and we should not forget that regardless of the spins that continue to emerge for cover up we must believe in her innocence. Even her FBI poster says all she was sought for was possible information - FIVE YEARS AGO. No reward, no terrorism charge, she is not even considered armed or dangerous!
Her attorneys have stated in court that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has become more despondent and fearful about her health and that if she does not receive proper medical treatment Dr. Aafia’s health will adversely decline. Dr. Aafia has the basic human right to appropriate medical treatment for her physical, emotional, and psychological injuries.
The best treatment that Dr. Aafia can be given after over five years of physical, mental, and emotional abuse, torture and brainwashing is to be repatriated to Pakistan immediately to reunite with her family, someone she can trust, receive solace, love, affection and sense of security that she has been deprived for so long.
The Issue: What is a Pakistani citizen’s worth to its government?
If the Nation and its government can unify to make the life of one Pakistani a top priority and have the faith and confidence to stake its policy on the safety of that one life then, we will have redefined the value of all Pakistanis and the dignity of the whole nation. Each politician will be a hero and each citizen more respectable in the eyes of the civilized world.
There is a Friendship & Repatriation Treaty between US & Pakistan, signed in Seattle, Washington in 1959 through which Pakistan should demand immediate repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui as Pakistan is entitled to go to the international court of justice under this treaty if the US fails to comply with her request. Pakistan may also use leverage suggesting that Pakistan will reciprocally suspend its obligations under the Vienna convention to Americans arrested or detained in Pakistan.
Dr. Aafia Siddiqui has been punished and continued to be punished to the max before she is even convicted. She is being kept in a publicly sanctioned torture chamber. Her basic human rights have been severely violated. The intensity of her physical, mental, emotional & psychological torture is unspeakable.
The bottom line is Dr. Aafia was a Pakistani and is a Pakistani citizen who never had any other nationality and she richly deserves to be repatriated to her native country Pakistan.
Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s unquestionable innocence and state of agony says volumes and have touched the hearts and souls of millions around the world. This is a case that is human at its core and universal in its appeal. I Appeal in the name of humanity to all people of conscience around the globe in general and Pakistanis both at home and abroad in particular to sign this petition and also motivate your family & friends to do the same impressing upon the democratic Government of Pakistan to arrange repatriation of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui from United States as soon as possible. Dr. Aafia's miseries will not end without her missing daughter and son. In the name of humanity & compassion her missing children may also be handed over to her by her captors.
