Petition text:
Our nation has always come to the aid of its own in a time of crisis and we at the Syosset Mobile Home Park in New York, have been living in a constant state of crisis for the past two years (since 4/09/07)!
In April 2007, our park was sold to Larry Rush (owner of LJR Development Co.), Lawrence Feldman (attorney with Farrell-Fritz, deceased) and Howard Avrutine (of Goldstein & Avrutine, right up the road from our park, and Town Attorney for Laurel Hollow), the principal partners of STP Associates, LLC. They want us to take our homes and get off their land. Contrary to their names, our homes are no longer "mobile" and cannot be moved. Regardless, we will receive NO compensation should we be forced to leave them behind! The residents at the park believe that closing an almost 100 year old Mobile Home Community which provides an affordable housing alternative for middle-class citizens in today’s plumeting economical and real estate markets to build even more luxury homes is unconscionable.
Nassau County and the Town of Oyster Bay should be ashamed of themselves if they consider Larry Rush, Larry Feldman (deceased) and Howard Avrutine's proposal to destroy this close-knit mobile home community in favor of redeveloping the property into a high-end luxury housing community of 75 condominiums starting at $750,000!
We ask our fellow Americans for their support in our efforts to save our homes and our community.
Thank you.
