Dear Friends and Associates

In 1978 one of my oldest friend and ex partner of mine Bill McNamara was shot by Solomon Gideon. As a group we have been able to keep him in jail since the shooting and hopefully we will keep him locked up for the rest of his life.
This will be the third time Solomon Gideon has come before the parole. At each of his prior parole hearings we have been able to get several thousand letters to the Parole Board voicing our objection to the release of this vicious criminal. We were successful on two occasions.

Please cut and paste the following letter and send it to the Governor and the Parole Board. The link I have attached in blue will link you to the Governor and the Parole Board.

In addition if you can forward this request to your F.O.Ps, unions, email list and association it would go a long way in keeping this perp in jail for the rest of his life.

thanks

RE: Solomon Gideon DIN #79A4202

On Saturday, June 10, 1978, New York City Police Officer William McNamara was on routine uniformed foot patrol on a busy street in Harlem, when he was attacked by a drug-crazed perpetrator named Solomon Gideon. Gideon intentionally distracted Officer McNamara by asking the time, and as Bill raised his arm to look at his watch, Gideon grabbed the gun from its holster and pumped a string of bullets into the officer. With wounds that punctured his spine and his heart, McNamara lay bleeding on the sidewalk. Gideon continued to savagely beat and pistol-whip the downed officer, fracturing his face and knocking out his teeth, with the intent of trying to kill this Police Officer.

Gideon received only 25 years to life for his vicious and senseless crime, but McNamara received a LIFE SENTENCE of pain and suffering confined to a wheelchair. Only 24 years old at the time of the attack, P.O. McNamara’s promising police career was tragically ended. He has spent a lifetime confined to a wheelchair, paralyzed from the waist down. Officer McNamara has never been able to run and play with his daughter or have a normal life and he continues to suffer health complications from the severity of the attack.

Now this attempted killer, Solomon Gideon, DIN # 79A4202, is scheduled for parole hearing. He has had numerous infractions and incidents in the correctional facility during his incarceration, and has never shown any sign of remorse for his crime to Police Officer McNamara.

I strongly implore the newly elected Governor, Elliot Spitzer,(who as Attorney General was a law and order public servant), and the Parole Division of the State of New York to deny the parole petition of this remorseless, vicious criminal.

As far as I am concerned, Gideon lost his right to freedom the day he decided to try to kill a Police Officer with a hail of deadly bullets and caused a lifetime of suffering to P.O. McNamara. We believe that cop killers - and attempted cop killers - belong permanently in jail. The State should not reward this criminal with parole simply because he failed in his mission to murder a public servant.

Thank you
