St Helens PS is on a main road and each day there are major issues around the school on Kellerman Drive. Children who are dropped off in the morning or picked up in the afternoon are at risk of being hit by a car as at the front of the school is a zone for 3 cars at a time, every morning and afternoon there is always major issues with traffic, this includes blocking the main road with cars lining up to get into the zone, cars parking on the street, some blocking driveways others double parking.
This is not a very safe area and it needs to be fixed. Next to the school boundary fence, is a large vacant lot, this needs to be zoned into a pick up and drop off area, children would then be no where near the road and allows for a much safer area for the children to be picked up.
We, the undersigned, call on the local and state Governments to fix the serious safety issue in relation to a Pick Up/Drop Off zone at St Helens Park PS on Kellerman Drive, St Helens Park. A 3 car bay at the front of the school on this main road, is to state the least, pathetic.
We ask that both Governments look at utilising the vacant land right next to the school and zone this into an area where vehicles can enter in one direction and leave from another, this would be like a large U shape.
This is surely the safest way and also to provide a safe area for children and road users.
