In '99 the Ont. govt of Mike Harris unveiled a restrictive science curriculum that removed the teaching of modern biology from required courses.
Evolution is foundational to modern biology. I have had severe difficulty accessing modern biology books in the Canadian library system and upon further investigation learned that evolution isn't being taught in the public school system.

Petition:
We, the undersigned, call upon the Canadian Board of Education for an immediate restoration of a science-based curriculum in the Canadian public school and library systems. Students and all citizens must be scientificly literate to be able to deal with the science and technology issues of the day.
Evolution is foundational to modern biology. Creationism is not science, creationism is a myth. Evolution has occurred, the proof is in the fossil record. Massive Transitional Invertebrate Fossil record spans 600 million years.
We are not descended from chimpanzees, we are related to them. The proper place to teach religious beliefs is in a church, a temple or your own home; but not a science class!
