Waihi College does not have a safe place for the LGBT youth attending the school, many of whom are either bullied back into the closet or see the other kids who had come out being bullied and have been too afraid to do that themselves.
This LGBT safe zone is needed for the students and will be much appreciated. More awareness and education needs to be taught about these issues, although the safe space would be a huge step.
We, the undersigned, call on the Waihi College management and leadership committee to allow the use of an area to be used as a safe, accepting environment for the LGBT youth attending Waihi College.
